Keep Calm & Carry On

Keep calm and carry on

Keep calm and carry on

In these uncertain and trying days, we must remember that tough times don't last forever! Here are some key points for business leaders to keep in mind:

Get Out in Front

Now is NOT the time to lay low and wait until things return to "normal" or to panic and shut everything down. Provide reassurance to your team and your customers. Add a video message to your website and/or send out updates to your team. Get creative and find ways to engage your workforce, continue operations or use your resources to meet other needs. Ask your team for support and ideas. Don't feel you must provide all the solutions.

Put Community First

Look for ways to share resources, products, services, even talent among your network, supply chain, competitors and your community. Reach out to contacts personally and encourage your managers to do as well. Set aside your competitive spirit for the time being. Relationships forged now will likely be strong forever.

Speak Clearly When Selling Yourself

Cast aside catchy phrases and "marketing speak" during this time. Get right to the point.

Communicate:

  1. What you offer

  2. How you can help

  3. How customers can reach you

Acknowledge & Thank

Show your gratitude to your team, your customers and your family. People greatly appreciate personal phone calls and handwritten notes. When thanking someone be honest and sincere and most of all, specific.  Acknowledge perseverance, commitment and teamwork.

Remember what Winston Churchill said, "Never give in. Never. Never. Never."

A recovery is on the horizon. We must be preparing now. Look forward, maintain hope and spread a positive attitude. Your team and customers are relying on your support and encouragement.
